From Sound Waves to Smart Robots: Primary 6 in Action!

Primary 6 students are diving into the exciting world of robotics with mBot2, discovering how real robots sense and respond to their surroundings. Using fun, block-based coding, they are building creativity, confidence, and sharp problem-solving skills, one program at a time!
This week’s highlight was discovering how robots “see” using Ultrasonic Sensor 2 just like bats using sound to navigate! By measuring bouncing sound waves, the mBot2 calculates distance, giving students a fascinating glimpse into how robots sense the world.
Students put their learning into action by programming the CyberPi to display the distance as a bold, extra-large number on the screen. Using if–else logic, the number glows red when an object is closer than 50 cm and green when it is farther away making their robot smart, responsive, and fun to test! With every hands-on challenge, students are mastering loops, logic, and real-time sensing. They are not just coding they are becoming creative thinkers and young tech innovators ready for a digital future!
As Aristotle once said, “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.” Through robotics, Primary 6 students are not only learning technical skills they are nurturing curiosity, confidence, and the joy of discovery, shaping both their minds and hearts.
