P6 STEM Volcano Project: Color Rush

Primary 6 students participated in an exciting hands-on learning experience during the STEM Volcano Project, where their creativity and critical thinking skills were put to the test.

Using baking soda and vinegar, the students created eruptions that mimicked real volcanic activity, incorporating vibrant, lava-colored paint to enhance the visual appeal of their models. Under the expert guidance of teachers Ms. Libna Pareja and Ms. Lalita Manyanont, the students presented their projects to evaluators Mr. Grigory Kurdyukov, Ms. Leah Balbada, Ms. Sunisa Khaowphimai, and Ms. Nathida Sayompark. They delved into the scientific concepts of volcanology, exploring topics such as chemical reactions, pressure build-up, and the geological features associated with volcanoes.

“The most thrilling part of this project was watching our volcano erupt and seeing the colorful lava flow!” Maysar, P.6/9 student.

“Seeing my teammates working together to make our volcano erupt was the best part!” Nipun, P.6/8 student

“This activity not only sparked curiosity and excitement for Earth science but also encouraged teamwork and problem-solving as students collaborated to build their models,” said Ms. Libna Pareja, Science Teacher.
