EP GOOD MANNERS 2024

The EP Discipline Department held the EP Good Manners Competition for the following levels this month: levels 3 & 4 on the 22nd, level 1 on the 28th, & level 2 on the 29th.

This competition was organized to help students maintain the culture of the customary Thai Wai greeting, cultivate students' respect and honor for all people regardless of their status, and teach students the different contexts for reverence of others.

Wai is not just a simple gesture but an elegant etiquette. Despite the modern world and the influence of foreign cultures, teachers and parents always ensure that the younger generation will not forget the essence of the Thai Wai.

Wai has different variations. Firstly, paying respect to monks requires one to bow the head while tilting the hands forward until the thumb touches the area between the eyebrows. Secondly, for someone highly respected like elders and parents, palms together and thumbs touch the tip of the nose. Finally, for those of the same age and younger, bow the head slightly and tilt the hands a bit forward. The Wai is also applicable in receiving gifts and awards.

Several parents witnessed the competition and were happy to see their children getting involved in wearing complete traditional Thai dress while participating in the competition.

The EP Discipline would like to thank the committee and all parents and teachers for their continued support for the students.
