Primary 1 students had a fun way to get out in nature. This exploration activity is called "Plant-tastic Walk". A walk through the school garden in the grounds. Students are exploring different kinds of plants, and investigating their physical characteristics.
Before heading to the activity, the students learned the basic function of the different parts of the plant and their importance. Students have prior knowledge of the school grounds and are aware of rules to be followed. Behavior expectations are reviewed before heading out to the grounds. The teachers gave some guidelines for them of what to investigate and they were divided to work in groups.
This activity helps the students to connect what they learn in the classroom to the real world. It provided students the ability to be in an environment that makes learning exciting, ignites curiosity, work together as a team and creates memorable learning experiences.
