LEARNING BY DOING Lesson: Africa: Political Divisions and Physical Features

On the second week of September 2023, the lesson’s objectives in the Social Studies class of Secondary 1 MLP students are to identify the political divisions of Africa and describe the Physical features thus, to learn and remember it students are engaging in the various activities or what so-called “Learning by Doing”.
Learning by doing motivates students to step out of their comfort zone, discover new things, and help them embed knowledge into their memory.
To efficiently familiarize the countries of Africa, students play a game called “Emoji” in which the students are going to guess the country of Africa through emojis. Also, a “Henyo” game is introduced to recall the significant physical features of Africa. Here, the students need to ask numerous questions to get a clue about what is on the paper that they need to guess. Before ending the class, teachers have a final activity which is the question and answer. The questions are shown on the screen and students need to answer the question as fast as they can to get the points.
Learning is at its best when it is the result of significant experience because that is what allows the student to collaborate in the planning, production, and understanding of the experience.
