“Blooming Discoveries: Exploring Flowering and Non-Flowering Plants”
By Mr. Merlowie & Ms. Rotsukon
This month, our Primary 3 students at Assumption College of Samutprakarn had a wonderful time learning about Flowering and Non-Flowering Plants. The lesson began with a fun and engaging maze activity that served as an icebreaker, helping students recall what they already knew about plants while getting them excited for the topic. The maze challenge encouraged quick thinking and teamwork, setting a lively tone for the day’s learning adventure.
For their main activity, the students went outside the classroom to explore the beauty of nature within the school grounds. Equipped with their observation worksheets, they identified and classified various plants, noting whether they were flowering or non-flowering. They also compared plant sizes from small herbs to large trees and discussed the different characteristics that make each plant unique.
The activity provided a valuable hands-on experience, allowing students to connect theory with real-world observation. It was delightful to see their curiosity bloom as they shared discoveries and worked together. This lesson not only deepened their understanding of plant classification but also nurtured their love for science and the natural world. Truly, it was a blooming day of learning and exploration!
