Topic: Our Environment: Natural and Human
Recently, the Primary 2 students of the Modern Language Program (MLP) dove into the fascinating world of the environment through lively and engaging lessons focused on types of environments (natural and human), as well as living and non-living things. These lessons were thoughtfully prepared by their Social Studies teachers, Mr. Kelvin Ragudo and Ms. Sutatip Sinsongkhla.
The lesson began with an introduction to key vocabulary related to the environment, setting the stage for a rich classroom discussion. Students explored the definition of "environment," learned to distinguish between living and non-living things, and examined the differences between natural and human-made environments. During the discussion, students also tackled important questions such as how human activities contribute to environmental destruction and identified practical ways to protect the planet. To reinforce learning, students participated in a lively pair-work game called “Choose the Odd One Out,” which encouraged teamwork and quick thinking. The lesson wrapped up with a concluding activity, followed by book exercises and a short quiz to assess understanding.
The lesson aligned with one of the subject’s key objectives: to help learners become more aware and appreciative of their environment and communities, and to inspire them to become responsible global citizens.
