Deep Talk: Looking Back & Go Beyond
On 26 June 2025, the ACSP English Program academic team and Design Thinking teachers worked together to create a new 3-year syllabus for students in Secondary 1 to 3. Looking back, Design Thinking has been a subject that helps students learn how to solve problems creatively, work in teams, and think outside the box.
Now, with developing a new syllabus, the Academic team will focus more on these skills: learning the basics of Design Thinking and how to understand people’s needs; practicing coming up with ideas, building models, and testing them; and working on real projects that help the school or community. This project reflects ACSP’s goal to give students the tools they need to succeed in the future.
Together, they are crafting a syllabus that not only aligns with global educational standards but also proves ACSP’s commitment to nurturing future-ready students. At ACSP EP, the subject has been taught in various forms, but this new syllabus marks the first time a structured, multi-year framework will guide students through progressive learning stages. The syllabus is designed to be a progression, each year building upon the previous one. The team will also integrate digital tools and interdisciplinary approaches to make the subject more engaging and applicable across various fields. This initiative will help empower students to think creatively and act responsibly. Students will be guided to have a mindset that prepares them for the challenges of tomorrow.
Looking ahead, ACSP EP plans to monitor student progress closely and refine the curriculum based on feedback and outcomes from relevant people as well as university professors who have expertise in teaching Design Thinking. As the school continues to innovate in its educational offerings, the Design Thinking syllabus stands as a testament to ACSP’s dedication to excellence, creativity, and holistic development.
