Secondary 2 students at Assumption College Samutprakarn enjoyed an engaging Chinese lesson combining music, lyrics and creative gesture dance. This activity was designed to help learners connect with Chinese vocabulary, pronunciation and sentence rhythm in a relaxing and lively way. Instead of traditional textbook drills, students learned the lines of a popular Chinese song, paired with simple, expressive hand movements, to experience the beauty of spoken Chinese.

During the activity, students worked individually and in small groups to follow the demonstration video. They carefully practised each gesture and got familiar with the Chinese lyrics and pinyin. Many learners enthusiastically presented their performances in front of the class. Smiles and laughter filled the classroom as they tried their best to coordinate their movements and follow the rhythm. Every participant showed great enthusiasm and a positive attitude, bravely sharing their work with classmates.

Learning a language does not only happen through reading and writing. Activities like this lower students’ anxiety when facing Chinese, build their oral awareness and strengthen their confidence to engage with authentic Chinese pop culture. By linking language to movement and music, students can feel that Chinese is a living, fun language used in real life. It encourages them to notice pronunciation, sentence flow and emotional expression beyond textbooks.

We are proud of all Secondary 2 learners for their active participation and wonderful performances. This joyful activity has left our students with a fresh, happy impression of Chinese learning. We will keep designing creative, student‑centred tasks to bring more fun and inspiration to future Chinese classes.
